Overview

Business Administration is an important role within many organisations. This online course will introduce the expectations of the job and then start to provide more detail about how to perform many of the typical tasks. The course will also help candidates develop many useful skills including: planning, prioritisation and customer service. Finally the course will provide some basic IT skills for communication and collaboration.


The course syllabus is designed for people planning to start a new role as a business administrator. We will explain the role of the typical administrator and then provide some detail about the typical tasks. The course will also help candidates improve their skills in areas essential to business administration, such as planning, prioritisation, customer service and basic computer usage.

Candidates will undertake an online multiple-choice assessment and will receive a certificate if successful (any certificates from an official awarding body are sent to you via email).

  • Course introduction

    In our introduction, we will discuss why the business administration role is important to an organisation. We will cover the overall structure of the course, providing a summary of the content of each section.


  • Introducing the Business Administrator Role

    In this unit, we introduce the role of the business administrator in more detail and explore the expectations that go with it. We will run through how to build up a good picture of the specific expectations of any job you apply for.


  • Typical Business Administrator Tasks

    In this module, we cover the most common tasks that a typical business administrator is asked to do. Although many of these tasks appear straightforward, working in a business environment can introduce new issues to be aware of.


  • People Skills

    People skills are very important in most jobs, but they essential for Business Administrators. This unit is based around the topic of Customer Service but also includes meetings and complaint handling.


  • Communication and Collaboration

    In this unit, we will develop the ideas of communication and collaboration. These are very important within Business Administration. We will focus on the use of computers and talk a little about IT security.


Obtaining your certificate

You will need to pass a multiple-choice exam at the end of the course in order to gain your accreditation. Once passed, we will send your official certificate by email.
