Overview

Developed to meet HSE guidelines, the aim of this course is to help those individuals who have been assigned the role of a traffic marshal to understand and carry out their responsibilities in accordance with nationally recognised safe practice. This course provides in-depth information, video examples of traffic signalling, and an online assessment to prove the learner is competent. An accredited certificate is issued by an Awarding Organisation to all those that pass the assessment.

The course is written in our popular, quick, simple-to-follow style, which works nicely on a laptop or a mobile screen. This doesn't mean we compromise on quality; everything is produced and filmed in-house so you can be sure you are getting the right information. Our narrator walks you through the course classroom-style, presenting the information as any teaching professional should; no links to old YouTube clips or documents here!

What's included:

  • Fully narrated video presentations
  • Filmed examples of key traffic signals
  • End of course online assessment with unlimited free resits
  • An accredited certificate from Highfield Qualifications
  • Free telephone support

Course Syllabus

  • Course Introduction

Here, we describe the structure and content of the course, as well as defining what is meant by the term "workplace transport". We then go on to outline the role and responsibilities of a Traffic Marshal.

  • Safe Site

In this Section, we look at the design and layout of the site. The main focus is on segregation of vehicles and pedestrians, the security of the site with regard to unauthorised visitors and ensuring good visibility for drivers and pedestrians.

  • Site Activity

In this Section, we explore the types of vehicle activity on a site and focus on the vehicle and the driver and communication between Traffic Marshal and driver.

  • Risk Assessment

This Section is all about identifying hazards on the site and the risk of them causing harm, and taking steps to remove the risk or at least reduce it to an acceptable level.

Obtaining your certificate

You will need to pass a multiple-choice exam at the end of the course in order to gain your accreditation. Once passed, we will send your official certificate by email.
